Blockchain & Crypto LAB
After the boom of the last few years, the digital asset ecosystem has managed to position itself as one of the sectors of reference and with an exponential growth forecast. At Grant Thornton, we help our clients to explore all aspects of this technology, to create tailored solutions that bring value to the business and address problems and inefficiencies in the business sector.
LACChain, led by BID Lab, promotes the development of blockchain in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The professional services firm joins this collaboration agreement together with entities such as Telefónica Tech and Tribe.
LACChain, the global alliance integrated by different actors of the blockchain environment, led by the Innovation Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Lab) for the development of the blockchain ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean, continues to grow through the addition of allies.
This is done through collaboration agreements with entities that share its goal of accelerating the enablement and adoption of blockchain technology, fostering innovation and promoting inclusion in the region. Recent additions to the Alliance include Telefónica Tech, the digital unit of the Telefónica Group, Grant Thornton, the professional services firm in Spain, and Tribe, the Singapore-based global blockchain ecosystem developer.
Each brings value to LACChain to facilitate the realization of the benefits that blockchain technology can bring to our society.
In the case of Telefónica Tech, they will work together to support the creation of a community that facilitates the exchange of knowledge in the use of blockchain technology, including the realization of workshops and various training activities. The alliance also includes the possibility for Telefónica Tech to include its solutions in the infrastructure and technological tools of the LACChain networks.
For José Luis Núñez, head of the Blockchain unit at Telefónica Tech: "This alliance seeks to combine synergies, collaborate and coordinate with the blockchain ecosystem to highlight the potential that blockchain technology has in Latin America and the Caribbean".
On the other hand, Grant Thornton and LACChain intend to exchange relevant and complementary information on blockchain-based services that are being deployed, as well as to develop materials and concepts related to blockchain technology and digital identity.
For Luis Pastor, Managing Partner of Business and Innovation Consulting at Gran Thornton in Spain, "this collaboration opens the opportunity to bring best practices and knowledge to one of the most important blockchain development clusters in Latin America and the Caribbean".
Likewise, for Yi Ming Ng, CEO of Tribe, "this alliance represents an opportunity to drive innovation and create interesting technological solutions".
The agreement includes exchanging experiences and coordinating communications through social networks to achieve the best possible results in the promotion of events and joint initiatives. The expected results include empowering people, improving digital security, building trust in the digital economy and society, and fostering inclusive growth in the region.
With the incorporation of these alliances, LACChain is currently integrated by 59 allies in the blockchain environment, supporting public-private partnerships and blockchain-based solutions in 16 countries in the region. Currently, there are more than 40 projects with impact on inclusion, with 136 nodes and 81 entities running nodes in a history of more than 35 million blocks.
